How to Install a Light Fixture
For a proper lighting installation, you need some basic electrical skills to reduce the risk of injury during the process. It may be in your best interest to hire a professional for this job. However, if you have basic electrical skills, here’s what you need to know about lighting installation.
Start by turning off the power. Locate the circuit breaker control and turn off the circuit. The wall switches for the light fixture being installed should be off. After you have cut off all power flows, you can remove the old light fixture, including the old fixture’s cover and old wire connectors. Next is tightening the screws of the electrical box holding the light fixture. The box supports the lighting installation of the light fixture. Make sure the box is safely attached.
Next is connecting the wires. The new fixture’s wires should match the present home’s wires. The white wire should connect white to white, black to black, and green to green. The fixture lighting installation secures the base or canopy by folding the wires back to the electrical box. Afterward, you can install the recommended bulbs into the fixture and ensure the correct wattage. Lastly, install the trim and covers.
