How to Install an Interior Door Lock

You will need to make a place for the cylinder of the deadbolt by drilling a hole in the door. The next step is to examine the door’s narrow face and make a mental note of the hole through which the bolt will pass.
Also, carefully drill a hole at this location. Always make sure the drill is level to provide an even and straight hole. It is highly recommended that you use safety goggles in order to prevent any slivers or wood chips from accidentally hitting you in the eye.
After drilling a hole in the door, insert the bolt into the hole, and then use either a Phillips-head or flathead screwdriver to firmly screw it into place. After that, install the cylinder component of the deadlock by beginning on the exterior of the lock and working your way toward the inside. After you have screwed the various components of the lock together, test the bolt to ensure that it can be inserted and removed easily while still maintaining its security. Lastly, the strike plate should be secured in position over the locking mechanism using screws.
